ULRIKE LIENBACHER

PSYCHE

THE ARTIST

Ulrike Lienbacher’s works revolve around the phenomenon of the authentic body which has become unimaginable due to identity constructions, attributions and valences. These works, though, are not only attempts to disassociate oneself from these attributions, but also to make up for the loss of body and face. Lienbacher builds on this shift, bringing the two together and let them drift apart again, when Psyche’s central prop, i.e. the mirror, entwined by a pale braid, slowly begins to take on a sinister aspect.
